This Privacy Policy explains how Tribo ("we", "us", "the app") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile application on Android and iOS.
Information We Collect
We collect the following information to provide and operate the app's features:
- Account information: email address, first and last name, date of birth, and password (stored securely; we never see or store your password in plain text).
- Profile information: bio, phone number, location text, and a profile photo, if you choose to add them.
- Location data: with your permission, your device's precise location, used to show and sort nearby events and to let you pick a location on a map when creating an event.
- Photos: images you choose to upload as your profile picture or attach to events, using your device's camera or photo library.
- Activity and social data: events you create or join, groups you're a member of, friend connections, comments, and likes.
- Push notification data: a device token used to deliver notifications about activity relevant to you (e.g. someone joins your event, comments, or sends a friend request).
- Google Sign-In data: if you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google, with your consent, to create or log in to your account.
How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account and profile
- To show you events and groups near you
- To let you connect with friends and organize activities
- To send you push notifications about relevant activity
- To keep the app secure and prevent abuse
Third-Party Services
The app relies on the following third-party services to operate:
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — delivers push notifications.
- Google Maps Platform — powers the in-app map used to browse and pick event locations.
- Google Sign-In — optional authentication method.

Data Storage and Security
Your account data is stored on our backend servers. Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device (Android Keystore-backed encrypted storage / iOS Keychain) and are never shared with third parties. We take reasonable technical measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Your Choices
- You can edit or remove your profile information at any time from within the app.
- You can control what parts of your profile (personal info, groups, events, friends) are visible to other users from the Privacy section in Settings.
- You can permanently delete your account from Settings → Delete Account, which deactivates your account and removes your personal information. See our Account Deletion page for full details on what's removed and what's retained.
- You can revoke location or photo permissions at any time from your device's system settings.
Children's Privacy
Tribo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
